- Romania v Norway, at 8:45 p.m. on Sunday
– The game between Romania and Norway is not in danger. The Norwegian team will travel to Bucharest.
Writes the Romanian newspaper Prosport on Saturday afternoon. Avisa refers to sources from the Romanian Football Association.
– The only sure thing is that the official training and today’s press conference (with Norway) have been canceled, reports the newspaper.
Gazeta Sporturilor also ensures that the game is not in danger.
– The Norwegians will eventually be able to travel to Bucharest, it is said.
According to TV 2, Romania’s coach, Mirel Radoi, is also confident in his case: the match between the teams will be played at 8:45 on Sunday.
Checklist: Flu, Allergies, or Corona?
According to Gro Tvedt Anderssen, director of communication and public relations for the Norwegian Football Association, the national team was due to leave Gardermoen at 1:00 p.m.
But the NFF and health authorities interpret the regulations differently.
Players despair
Health authorities believe the rest of the team should have been in quarantine when Vice Captain Omar Elabdellaoui tested positive for COVID-19 yesterday. This is not how the NFF interprets it.
They have sent a letter to the Ministry of Health and Sanitary Services, to which they are now awaiting a response. That is the case.
The letter says, among other things:
«The national team will play two matches of the League of Nations in resp. Romania and Austria in the next few days and he planned to travel to Romania today November 14. However, earlier today, the Norwegian Health Directorate announced that the management considers that leaving Norway will constitute a violation of the quarantine provision, cf. regulation covid-19 § 5a.
Based on this, we have postponed today’s trip to Romania. NFF does not want to challenge infection control regulations. Following an assessment of the current regulations, and also based on signals from the Norwegian Health Directorate, we have now further adjusted the travel plans so that, in our assessment, they do not involve infringements of the rules on quarantine of infections.
This basically means that the team, which no longer includes people who play for Norwegian clubs, must travel in such a way that no individual is at any time in close contact with each other. “
