New hope for the road that can reduce travel time between Oslo and Bergen by three hours – NRK Vestland

– This has been a great wish of us in the west, since then we will be connected on the main southern highway between east and west, says parliamentary representative Eigil Knutsen in the Labor Party.

Today, the Labor Party, the Center Party and the Progress Party submitted a proposal at the Storting for a conceptual currency analysis (KVU) for an “arm” connecting Bergen with the E134 over Haukeli.

The DIAGONAL HORDALAND: One suggestion is that the Bergen branch to the E134 should go through Odda, the so-called diagonal Hordaland.

In the 2015 east-west study, the Norwegian Public Roads Administration recommended E134 over Haukeli and fv. 52 over Hemsedal as the main road between Aust and Vestlandet.

They also advised administering a so-called arm to Bergen from E134, where it was revealed that the net benefit of the “arm” for Bergen was 26 billion crowns.

But the government did not order the analysis of the currency concept. Something to which the three opposition parties have reacted.

Majority in the Storting

They now have a majority in the Storting for the Norwegian Public Roads Administration to speak out.

– The report emphasized that E134 had by far the highest socioeconomic utility value of the various east-west highway connections, and that a future arm to Bergen will form a significant part of this, says Knutsen.

– The Norwegian Public Roads Administration defended this in 2015, but conservatives have put their foot down, he adds.

The Progress Party believes that it is now urgent to extend its arm to Bergen.

– This will further link western Norway with the markets our export companies will reach. For Frp, the E134 is an important road that we want to highlight, says Helge André Njåstad.

UIike alternative

You have our various suggestions for the arm to Bergen. One proposal is via Odda and further towards Bergen, via Fusa, the so-called Hordaland diagonal.

Another alternative is the so-called Sunnhordlands diagonal through Kvinnherad and Tysnes to Bergen. Both diagonal alternatives are relevant in light of the discussion on the route for the E39 Bergen-Haugesund-Stavanger without a ferry.

The government has decided that the Norwegian Public Roads Administration will continue with the “intermediate route”, ie from Stord via Tysnes and with a bridge over the Bjørnafjord to Os. This option is called Hordfast.

Supporters of an “inland route” from Stord through Tysnes, around Bjørnafjorden and through Fusa to Os believe that it will be cheaper and can be connected to the Bergen-Fusa-Odda diagonal.
