The Northern Ireland national team player arrives with new details from the previous meeting with Erling Braut Haaland.
ULLEVAAL STADION / AKERSGATA (Nettavisen): The Norwegian forward made a name for himself when he swept Northern Ireland in Belfast with, among other things, two goals in the game that Norway won 5-1.
Haaland also received attention shortly after the game when television cameras captured him along with Northern Ireland national team player Stuart Dallas.
The two players changed suits and apparently had a nice conversation.
Dallas has previously said that he was put to bed by Haaland’s request to change his suit.
It turned out that it was Haaland’s sympathies for the Premier League club Leeds United that made him want to change clothes with Dallas, who plays for Leeds.
Comes with new details
A few days before Wednesday’s match between Norway and Northern Ireland at the Nations League Stadium Ullevaal, Dallas will provide new details on its conversation with Haaland.
In an interview with Talksport, the Premier League player ensures that he does not usually change suits with opponents.
– He came after me and asked if we could change clothes. Maybe it wasn’t the smartest thing to do for me as they just beat us 5-1 and filmed me smiling, says Dallas.
– It probably didn’t look that good. I thought he meant we should do it on the inside, but he called me and asked if we could do it right away. We did that and then he leaned in next to me and said ‘marching together’, explains the Northern Ireland national team player.
“Marching on together” is both the catchphrase and the name of one of Leeds United’s most popular backing songs.
– Bit strange
Dallas doesn’t hide the fact that he was pulled out of the situation, but he thinks it was rewarding nonetheless.
– It was a bit strange. I knew about his connection with Leeds with his father (who himself played for Leeds) and they were fine that he wanted my suit, explains the player.
Dallas hopes to see Haaland play for Leeds in the future.
– For a player it is. Hopefully we’ll see him with Leeds in the Premier League one day, says the Northern Irishman.
Haaland himself declined to comment on the suit change when asked by TV 2 after the deal last month.
Meet again
At Tuesday’s press conference at Ullevaal Stadium, the day before Norway’s second game against Northern Ireland in the Nations League, only Kristoffer Ajer appeared from the Norwegian national team players.
However, he had to answer questions about Haaland, which is a name on the lips of many people these days.
Now Ajer hopes that Haaland can reappear when the Northern Irish visit Norway. Ajer tells Nettavisen that he is happy not to be the one to meet Haaland on Wednesday night.
– It has a total package that is fascinating. He’s unbelievably strong, unbelievably fast and most of all an unbelievably good spiker, says Ajer.
– He is a very difficult forward to tackle, so I appreciate him playing in Norway, says the midfielder.
The Celtic player also believes that Haaland will be even more dangerous in goal in the future.
– Haaland is brilliant. Score three goals against Romania. He has a hunger every day in training that is wonderful to watch. We just had shortstop games here and he really wants to win. Then you develop more. I think there is little doubt that he will make it to the top, says Ajer.
Norway will be visited by Northern Ireland at Ullevaal Stadium on Wednesday evening at 8:45 pm.
