Nakstad with bad news for you that you have been infected

Researchers have arrived at this result as part of a large study on the possibility of reinfection after hearing from healthcare professionals that a new infection is highly unusual.

– We can be pretty sure, at least in the short term, that most people who contract COVID-19 will not contract it again, says Professor David Eyre, one of the researchers behind the study, who believes that the result is Good news.

However, the researchers emphasize that they do not have enough data to say anything about the likelihood of a new infection occurring after six months.

Bad news

Many have assumed that a person who has had covid-19 is immune and therefore should not be counted among the ten who can meet at Christmas.

But the deputy health director Espen Rostrup Nakstad from the Norwegian Health Directorate arrives with disappointing news, telling TV 2 that it should be counted among the ten that can be collected, regardless of whether or not you have had covid-19.

– It is because we do not know for sure if, and when, one can become contagious again after covid-19, he says and continues:

– Because no one knows exactly how long they are immune or non-infectious, we have advised everyone to stay away from others in public spaces, including the 0.6 percent of the population who tested positive during the pandemic .

Everyone should follow the same rules, Nakstad says.

– The only thing you don’t have to do, if you can document a positive test less than six months ago, is the entry quarantine.

Most people who have had COVID-19 belong to a household and can invite guests regardless of this, Nakstad says.

Infectious

Health director Bjørn Guldvog also emphasizes to TV 2 that you can get coronavirus even if you have been infected before.

– Even if you do not have symptoms, you can actually produce some virus on the mucous membranes. Therefore, you may be contagious too, he says.

The health director emphasizes that this is something we do not know much about today.

– But to be safe, it’s not the case that you automatically come out of a close contact quarantine if you’ve been around someone who is infected, he says.

– Shouldn’t you then look at this with the entry quarantine, because it avoids the entry quarantine if you have had covid-19?

– Now you are much less likely to carry an infection if you come from another country than if you have been in close contact with someone who is infected, so this has something to do with the probability that you will bring an infection, says the health director . .

This applies nationally

Since the end of September, more than 27,000 positive tests for covid-19 have been recorded across the country. Of these, around 71 people have lost their lives.

The government has created national councils on how best to carry out the Christmas and New Year celebrations and, at the same time, deal with infection control. The Christmas tip applies from December 23 inclusive to January 1 inclusive.

  • You still need to limit the total number of people you have social contact with throughout the entire period, and not least in the run-up to Christmas.
  • We maintain the recommendation that you can have up to 5 guests during the New Years.
  • On two of the days we are open for up to 10 people. That means up to 10 guests on Christmas Eve and New Years Eve, or two other days of your choice during the period.
  • There should always be at least one meter of distance between all the people who do not otherwise live together. This applies both when you sit down at the table, when the presents are handed out and when the Christmas cakes arrive.
  • If you cannot have the Christmas party at least one meter away if you invite 10 guests, you must invite fewer.
  • If you are coming from areas with high infection, you should stay 2 meters from people at risk.

– Christmas is a time of closeness, not distance. We want everyone to be able to celebrate Christmas with as many people as possible around them. We deserve it, especially this year. At the same time, we are concerned that the Christmas celebration will generate more infections in society. We do not want to start the new year with an increase in infection rates and new austerity measures in January. None of us will, Prime Minister Erna Solberg said at a press conference in early December.

These recommendations apply to the entire country. In municipalities with high infection pressure, there may be stricter rules for the number of guests and contacts. Therefore, pay close attention to the information where you live, the government encourages.

– When we open for more guests two days during the holidays, it assumes that everyone is good at keeping at least a meter apart and limiting the number of social contacts throughout the period, says the Minister of Health and Care Services, Bent Høie.

These rules apply to Christmas in Oslo

In the last two weeks, there have been 1,414 infections in Oslo, shows a summary from the municipality of Oslo.

– This year’s Christmas celebration will be different, said Councilor Raymond Johansen (Labor Party) in Oslo municipality at a press conference when the City Council presented plans for Christmas 2020.

It was decided to extend the social closure in Oslo until January 7.

  • All social gatherings outside private homes are prohibited.
  • All leisure activities for adults are closed, such as grassroots sports.
  • All businesses where cultural and leisure activities take place are closed, with the exception of the library. This applies to gyms, swimming pools, bowling alleys, cinemas, theaters, bingo halls, and the like.
  • Complete pour stop. Restaurants can remain open without serving alcohol.
  • Prohibit all indoor events, funerals and funerals are the exception.
  • Restrictions on grassroots sports for children and youth. Training can be normal, but drinks and things like that are canceled.
  • Requirement that stores, shopping centers and the like must ensure that there is no more in the room than can maintain a distance of two meters.
  • Mandatory for the use of masks in taxis, both for drivers and passengers.
  • Red level in all upper secondary schools in Oslo, the red level in all upper secondary schools will be assessed next week.
  • Mandatory for indoor bandages in public places where it is not possible to keep at least 1 meter distance.
  • Mandatory for bandages inside restaurants for employees and guests in all situations where you do not sit at a table.
  • Order for a home office and a requirement that all employers must document that employees have been advised that they must have a home office to the extent possible.
  • The number of contacts during a week should not exceed 10 people in social contexts. The exceptions are those in the same household, kindergarten and elementary school cohorts, and colleagues.

At the same time, it is open to activity in leisure clubs, Christmas offers for the most disadvantaged and for similar services and philosophical meetings.

– I hope it contributes to a pleasant drive during the Christmas holidays, says Johansen.

  • Leisure clubs can be kept open for children and young people between the ages of 13 and 19 for up to 20 people at a time.
  • Alternative Christmas celebrations targeting the most disadvantaged will be allowed. There is a requirement that an organization be the organizer.
  • Worship services and other religious gatherings are allowed for up to 20 people. There should be fixed seating, at least one meter apart, and a strict infection control practice.

In Oslo, the ban on gathering more than 10 people in private meetings will apply until the end of the year.

Weddings, confirmations and other family gatherings where there are more than ten people in the next period are not allowed.

Therefore, the rules are stricter than national recommendations that say you can gather up to 10 people plus the household twice during Christmas.
