Muslims, prison | Woman convicted of calling Muslims “hijab”

A woman in her 40s has been sentenced to 30 days in prison, among other things, for calling two Muslim women “hijabhores” and traitors.

The episode took place outside the Nordbyen shopping center in Larvik at the end of September last year.

The offended women explained in court that the accused woman asked one of them if she had converted to Islam. When confirmed, the woman was furious, scolded them both and told them that they were hijabs and traitors for being Muslims. He also grabbed one of the women’s strollers and shook them, so that the woman’s one-year-old son woke up and started crying.

The woman was sentenced under article 185 of the Criminal Code on incitement to hatred.

The woman was also convicted of violence against a taxi driver, after she refused to compensate him after a taxi ride from Sandefjord to Stavern in November last year. In addition, she was convicted of threatening the taxi driver and a man who helped him.
