The municipalities of the Trondheim region ask residents to stop unnecessary travel across municipal boundaries.
– The Trondheim region is a common housing and labor market region. Therefore, we wish to cooperate closely to counter the pandemic, the municipalities write in a press release.
From now until the end of January, the municipalities come with a strong call to avoid transfers across municipal boundaries. This also includes a strong common call to:
- Home office use. When home offices can be used for the benefit of traveling across municipal boundaries, home offices must be clearly used.
- The population should not cross municipal boundaries to travel for commercial, social or cultural experiences that are not strictly necessary.
- Organized combat activity that involves close contact across municipal boundaries must cease.
- In those cases where you still have to cross municipal boundaries, it is recommended to avoid rush hour public transport and using bandages if you still have to travel by public transport.
- The recommendations of individual municipalities to have few close contacts should be followed.
- The decisions and advice of the municipality in which you live must be followed. (Check your municipality’s website if in doubt).
The municipalities of Orkland, Skaun, Melhus, Midtre Gauldal, Trondheim, Malvik, Stjørdal and Indre Fosen are united in this call.
In the press release, they write that the Trondheim region is made up of municipalities with different starting points, preconditions and infection status. This means that the different pandemic measures in different municipalities must also be taken into account.
New infection registries: in Bergen, infection decreases
On Wednesday, December 30, a new infection record was recorded in Trondheim. 83 people were diagnosed with coronary heart disease. Trondheim also set a new record for infections the day before, with 79 new infections.
– The situation now is very serious. More serious than ever, said City Manager Morten Wolden at a special meeting of the presidency on New Year’s Eve.
On New Year’s Eve, 41 new corona infections were recorded in Trondheim. On the last day of the year, 518 tests were carried out. The day before, there were 1,554 people who proved themselves.
In Bergen, there were roughly the same number that was tested on New Year’s Eve: 463 people. But there was still only one person who was diagnosed with coronary heart disease in Bergen in the last 24 hours. Therefore, the development is very different.
Stjørdal has a growing trend. They set a new infection record on New Year’s Eve with 21 new infections. During Christmas, the municipality came out in force and asked the inhabitants to stay home for the rest of Christmas.
If we are to close by reducing the now escalating infection situation in our region, and summoning groups at risk, the degree of compliance of the population is of utmost importance, says the press release from the municipalities of the Trondheim region.
Corona death in the hospital
A patient at the Charlottenlund Health and Wellness Center in Trondheim was confirmed dead from the coronavirus on New Year’s Day. This was announced by the Director of Health and Wellness, Helge Garåsen, to Adresseavisen. The person must have been seriously ill before they were infected.
This is the sixth crown death in Trondheim since March.
On December 18, the health center introduced a restraining order until the new year, after five patients tested positive for coronavirus. Two days later, two new patients were diagnosed with Covid-19.
The infection was discovered when a patient was admitted to St. Olav Hospital. This person is fine now, according to Garåsen.
– We are in the final phase of this outbreak. Both patients and staff have been quarantined and continuously monitored with tests, Garåsen tells NRK.
He said that the person who died was seriously ill.
– It is extremely difficult to avoid infection in nursing homes when there is so much infection in other parts of society. We must try to prevent it. The elderly are vulnerable and at risk. Therefore, it is important to have restrictions for visitors, says Garåsen.
He informs NRK that the ban on hospital visits will apply for a few more days regardless of death.
