On Saturday, Texas health authorities announced 272 new deaths related to coronary heart disease. In total, there are now 25,226 such deaths in the state, writes AP News.

In the United States, only New York has registered more, with more than 37,000.

On Saturday, 12,914 new cases of infection were reported in the state. The figure is lower than the record figure of 16,864 on Thursday this week.

On Friday, health authorities announced that Texas will receive an additional 620,000 doses of coronary vaccine in addition to the 224,000 doses the state has already received.

Shady development

Developments in Texas are following in the footsteps of the rest of the United States, where more than 18 million cases and more than 323,000 coronary deaths have been reported, according to the Worldometer.

In the last 24 hours alone, nearly a quarter of a million new cases and 2,814 deaths were reported.

Health experts say new records will likely be set in the future as the virus spreads at an ever-increasing rate.

Near burst ability

In California, hospital capacity is now about to explode. In some places, patients have to wait in ambulances for up to eight hours for a hospital bed to be available.

It is in California where the infection is increasing most rapidly. There have been more than 48,000 new cases in the last 24 hours, along with 17,000 more hospitalized, according to The New York Times.

“Our hospitals are under siege and our models show no end in sight,” Dr. Christina Ghaly, director of health services for Los Angeles County, told the newspaper.

After California, Texas, Florida, New York and Tennessee are the worst hit in sheer numbers, all with more than 10,000 new cases.

Tennessee verst

Tennessee is now the state with the highest infection rate in the United States, with 1,640 new cases per 100,000 residents in the past two weeks.

However, Republican Gov. Bill Lee continues to oppose the sanitary pad imposition. Only a dozen other states now lack such mandates in one form or another.

Distribution of the Pfizer vaccine began nationwide on Monday, and Moderna’s vaccine became the second to be approved in the United States on Friday.

Many more months

In the United States, a quarter of a million people have already been vaccinated, but experts warn that it will be several months before most of the people who need the vaccine most are vaccinated. In those months, the pandemic will continue to develop.

Therefore, authorities in many places continue to ask the population to take extra precautions against the virus.

In Arizona, the population has been asked to reduce their social circle as much as possible, and in the capital Washington DC, Mayor Muriel Bowser on Friday introduced a ban on eating indoors in city restaurants for the next three weeks.

All the famous museums in the city have also been ordered to close their doors, including all the Smithsonian museums.
