– It was great to have Katrine back, but unfortunately she got a ball in the eye and doesn’t see much at the moment, Vipers coach Ole Gustav Gjekstad says after the 33-29 win against Bietigheim.

It was midway through the second half that a strong shot from the Germans hit the post, but the return hit Lunde in the face. She had to count, and it was clear that she had problems with her eye.

However, she got up and continued the fight, before leaving the place to Evelina Eriksson for the final five minutes.

– He continued, but had to leave in the last minutes. There are some Germans who now control it and see what it looks like, says Gjekstad.

– Are you worried about her?

– No, I hope it goes well. But it’s good to get checked when you put the ball directly into the eye, says the Vipers coach, who says the eye was very red.

The team left Katrine Lunde in the hallway while she was under the supervision of a German doctor. Later, according to photographer Marco Wolf, she was transferred to the Katharinen Hospital in Stuttgart for further examination.

The match was Lunde’s first after he tore his cruciate ligament in the bronze final of the Champions League more than 16 months ago. It was by no means the way she had envisioned the return.

Fædrelandsvennen will be back when we learn more about Lunde.
