Mobile, Vipps | A new Vipps app challenges the mobile giants

All users will receive a special application offer directly from Vipps.

They call it postponement. Actually, this is a completely normal mobile subscription:

– Through user testing and knowledge work, we see that many people perceive their mobile subscription as difficult and confusing. So we thought this was a good opportunity to use our simplification experience in new areas and solve a new mess with Vipps mobile and our mobile app.

– We look forward to receiving feedback from users to try and learn more, says Elisabeth Haug, director of Vipps mobile, in a press release.

Vipp’s “mobile subscription” is now gradually rolled out for all users over the age of 15 on the app; This is where you request and manage the subscription. The subscription is offered with three different amounts of data.

Automatic roll-over

Gigabytes not used in the subscription will automatically carry over to the next month, Vipps writes in the message.

– Up to 200,000 gigabytes disappear every day in the open and return to mobile operators, because users cannot use them, Vipps writes in the message.

All payment is made in Vipps, in addition to you managing your subscription there.

– We do not have a blackout period and everything is paid in advance. So you don’t get complicated bills and you don’t have to settle for insidious data packages. There is only one subscription, with two different modes, that you can upload and download yourself. We look forward to giving people a new and simpler mobile life, says Elisabeth Haug.

The Vipps mobile app has no lockout period and is offered in three variants:

  • 4GB of data for 250 crowns
  • 15 GB for 399 crowns
  • 30 GB for 599 crowns

Vipps customers receive coverage from Telenor.

– Time to try something new

– Why are you doing this?

– With 3.8 million users and a brand for simplified payments, it was time to try something new. We have a wealth of information showing that many people find it difficult to switch mobile subscriptions and manage what they have. They also get many surprises when the bill arrives. What is called reinvestment is not reinvestment after all, Vipps Mobil manager Elisabeth Haug tells Nettavisen.

Rollover is the industry term for transferring unused data to the next payment term. With the Vipps subscription, you can take the data with you for as long as you want, while this period has an expiration date with the competition, says Haug.

– Why should customers choose you and how do they do it?

– Users have a mobile and have our application. If you sign up, you will receive a SIM card in a couple of days.

Vipps Director Berit Svendsen joined the company after a long career at Telenor. But this has nothing to do with the new service, Haug says.

– The idea comes from within. We have a lot of employees who have worked in telecommunications, so this was quite natural.

– Isn’t the price particularly offensive?

– We have tried to simplify subscriptions. You only pay for what you get, and you can keep the data for as long as you want. It is the lack of these people that they are most dissatisfied with in existing mobile subscriptions. All other telcos have an expiration date on the data.
