– We were notified by an acquaintance of the woman, who had been in contact with her when she was coming down the mountain. He reported when he lost contact with her, Operations Manager Stine Mjelde in the West Police District tells NRK.

A little before 23 the woman is far from recovering.

No contact since 15:45

The man had last contact with the woman at 3:45 p.m. The police were notified half an hour later and the search operation began at 4:48.

Rescue leader Steinar Vatne at the Main Rescue Station (HRS) in Sola said a rescue helicopter from Florø was involved in the search.

– The first search was without result. After a brief stop on the ground to refuel, he will now be back to search for more, Vatne told NRK at 20 o’clock.

A little before 23 I took an HRS helicopter in Sola in front of the Florø machine, which is needed for other assignments.

Two Norwegian rescue dogs are also on the hunt, plus a police dog patrol.

Get out of the way

The woman is said to have told him that she had turned off the path down the mountain and was in a very slippery and steep area. As far as the police know, he must have climbed one side of the mountain and then took the path to Soleide on the way down.

After 3:45, no one has been in contact with the woman. Operations leader Mjelde said police have been in contact with friends, family and employers.

Police have also searched the woman’s home in case she should have come down the mountain, but to no avail.

– The effort is mainly in the mountains with all the resources we have. And the longer it takes, the more uncomfortable we feel, of course, says Mjelde.
