The family has had no contact with the elderly couple since Thursday night and reported them missing Sunday night. According to NRK’s experience, the couple were on a berry trip in a hiking area in Høknesvatnet, northeast of central Namsos.
Found by Dog Patrol
At 06:50, search teams found the woman dead.
The husband was found by a police dog patrol this morning.
The deceased woman is 70 years old and the man 80 years old.
– The woman was found by a police dog patrol in the primary search area. They found her on the ground, says operations manager Trond Volden.
Task leader Morten Heggdal says the man was found at a location a few hundred meters in a straight line from where the woman was found.
The case is being investigated
Police forensic technicians are on the scene and together with a doctor will examine the dead. The circumstances surrounding the deaths are unknown and an investigation was launched.
The municipality’s crisis team is involved.
Used dogs and drones
Eight teams of dogs, both from the police and Norwegian Rescue Dogs, searched this morning for the missing man. Also, the drone was used.
Ground crews also searched the terrain. By Monday morning, about 40 people were on an active search.
The couple must not have had a mobile phone with them during the trip.

Task leader Morten Heggdal stated that there are cliffs and rock piles in the exploration area.
Police found the couple’s car in the Namsos hiking area, and the two are said to be known in the area.
Helicopter search
The main rescue center assisted with a Sea King rescue helicopter and volunteers from Norwegian Rescue Dogs and the Red Cross assisted in the search.
