Millions of cheers for football: will cover lost ticket revenue – NRK Sport – Sports news, results and schedule

– We have changed the wording of the compensation scheme so that we now also cover ticket revenues for partially held events. In football, for example, to be played without the audience, you will be able to cover the loss of ticket income, Culture Minister Abid Raja tells NRK.

Since the scheme now runs through June 15, the government will notify the Storting on Tuesday of a plan for June 15 and beyond.

Therefore, soccer clubs will receive a final response by May, according to Raja.

“We are the ones who have ordered them to play without the audience, and then we also have to establish a scheme so that it can be compensated,” says Raja.

This means that clubs receive compensation for expected revenue until the stadium doors are opened.

Both the Elite series and the Top series will be taken by the scheme.

The happy message made Odds Ballklubb the first elite series team in Norway. The Minister of Culture was invited to a training session with the ski team, where Raja tried the tricks and the shooting foot.

Although the 44-year-old was not so impressed that club management found pencil and paper, Odd’s management is satisfied with the latest developments.

“Raja has not understood the operation of the club”

General manager Einar Håndlykken claims that ticket revenue represents approximately ten percent of Odds’ revenue.

In total, the club has a budget of NOK 80 million.

– It is positive and important, but it is a small part of our income. There are many other revenues that are much higher, such as our collaboration with companies and some others. But we are happy with what we get. We have experienced that we have been a little forgotten, but now I think we are on a slightly better path, “Handkylken tells NRK.

Sports, and especially soccer, have criticized the government’s crisis packages. A Norwegian soccer team has felt that they are not hitting well enough.

The handshake felt that the culture minister “did not understand the operation of the club.” Raja has recognized the weaknesses of the package and promised changes. The silence of the empty stands has now been partially replaced by the sound of coin blades in the clubhouse.

– We plan to make some adjustments to the scheme we have made. Raja told NRK that it has not been successful, after meeting Sports-Norway in the office a week ago.

Rosenborg can get over 20 million

The change to the compensation scheme means millions of payments, as NRK understands. Despite the lowest attendance figures in recent years, audience incomes make up a large part of the income base of various clubs.

IMPORTANT: Ticket revenue is important to Rosenborg. Audience numbers held steady for most teams in the Elite Series last year, but RBK experienced its worst audience drop since 2001. The Trønder finished in 3rd place.

Also in Trøndelag the message is received with pleasure. Rosenborg is among the clubs that classify ticket revenue as “an important budget line item.”

CEO Tove Moe Dyrhaug previously told TV 2 and VG that they had budgeted around NOK 24 million in audience revenue.

– Audience income is one of our main pillars. It goes without saying that it has a lot to say about earnings and liquidity in 2020. And not least for future operations, Dyrhaug tells NRK.

Previously, the figure was NOK 40 million annually. This is due to the fact that attendance figures have been much higher than in recent years. In 2018, there was an average of 16,423 spectators at the match in Lerkendal. In 2019, that number was only 12,823.
