– The most important thing you can do to prevent mice from entering the house is to seal the house for small cracks, says Arnulf Soleng, principal investigator in the pest control section of the National Institute of Public Health.
– We are talking about very small openings, up to six millimeter cracks. As the mouse’s head enters, the rest of the body slides in, he says.

This is how you prevent mice from entering the house and cabin
The best and safest way to prevent mice from entering your home is to seal mouse entry doors such as holes and cracks.
– It doesn’t have to be a big job to secure the house against mice, but in some cases there may be a number of holes that need to be sealed and then it takes time. There are, among other things, mouse brushes, which look like a large bottle brush that is placed between the siding and the foundation wall, and then the mouse does not enter, says Soleng.

If you find it difficult to find holes and cracks in your home, she advises you to seek the help of a pest control company that can show you and can help seal them as well.
When the year of the mouse rolls around, it’s nice to spend the summer stamping out potential mouse entries. If you start closing holes now, it may already be too late.

One very important thing to do to prevent mice from entering the house is to eliminate food sources that attract mice and rats.

– If you got them, you almost have to catch them. The good news is that these wild Norwegian mice are very curious, and then easy to catch in mousetraps – it’s a sure winner, says Soleng at FHI.
How to find out that you have mice at home
– How do you discover for the first time that a mouse has entered a house or cabin?
– He wonders where they come in. If you walk straight into the living room, you will find feces and they have gnawed on things like candles and fruits that are in front, says Soleng.
In the vast majority of cases, they are in the building and not in the living room.
– If they are inside the construction, like the walls, for example, it could be that you hear legs, that they run or climb the walls, he continues.

Norwegian mice don’t breed indoors, they only overwinter.
– But few people want them, because they can do great damage, and if it is a year of mice, there may be many mice that want to enter the house and cabin, says Soleng.
