On October 2, a video recording from the TikTok app went terribly wrong. During a simulated kidnapping for TikTok, Mexican Areline Martínez was shot dead in the city of Chihuahua in Mexico. Reports The Independent.

Martinez, 21, died after a gun was fired when she and her friends recorded a fake kidnapping video for the TikTok app.

This wasn’t the first time Martinez had shot a similar type of kidnapping video for TikTok, but this time it went wrong.

A video of the minutes before his death circulates on social networks, where Martínez is seen with his “kidnappers.” About 10 people were present at the recording, according to police.

Two men were seen fleeing the scene after the shooting. They have been identified by video footage of the recording, but are still at large, according to the Mexico News Daily.

The Independent State Attorney in Chihuahua, César Augusto Peniche Espejel, told The Independent that there is an ongoing investigation.

– There are several facts to investigate, the unfortunate death of the young woman, the origin of the weapon and how it came to her hands.

This is the last photo that Areline Martínez published on Instagram.

Martinez’s TikTok account was turned private after the incident, so the above videos are not available.
