Measure level A in Oslo is not introduced by the government

Viken recently introduced measure level A, which involves the most stringent crown measurements.

The government has not done the same with Oslo, which has recently had very high infection rates.

– Our assessment is that the Oslo City Council has introduced strict measures and is considering more. It is Oslo who decides its own measures nowsays Health Minister Bent Høie (H) to NTB.

Partially tighter on Viken

The fact that Oslo is not covered by measure level A under crown regulations means that Viken has stricter measures in certain areas. For example, Viken has had to stop the best sports and close her campuses.

– Oslo has long had very strict measures. That Oslo does not have all the measures in A will not be an argument to change A, says Høie.

However, the Minister of Health acknowledges that Oslo will use the level of measures in the work of determining local measures.

Strict regional measures were imposed on Oslo in relation to the mutation outbreak in Nordre Follo, but since 18 February it has “only” been subject to local and national measures.

Further tightening went into effect in Oslo on Wednesday. Among other things, there was fully digital teaching for upper secondary school, upper secondary school and adult education, as well as the prohibition of more than two visitors in private homes.

– The City Council has used the most powerful tools that we have in the toolbox to reduce the infection. At the same time, this is not something we can decide on solely through action. Each of us has a great responsibility Councilor Raymond Johansen (Labor Party) tells Dagbladet.

Daily entry

The capital has registered 495 new corona infections in the last 24 hours. That’s 214 more than Wednesday of last week and by far the highest so far during the pandemic.

– Yesterday’s infection rates are very high. It shows how serious and aggressive the mutated British variant of the virus is, says Johansen.

The Oslo social closure has lasted since Tuesday, November 10.
