Culture Minister Abid Raja has given the body the green light to play across the country on National Day as they meet infection control standards.
They are allowed to march in places where residents can stand in their own gardens, on balconies, and in smaller groups on the streets.
Fredrikstad May 17 committee leader Margrete Kvalbein fears it will be difficult to reach, especially in the downtown areas where crowds will gather quickly to bring the band’s music.
Therefore, the municipality has clearly stated that the bands should stop playing or move on, if the number of listeners exceeds 20 people, reports NRK.
“It is a somewhat sad message to give, because we are sure that many are good at keeping their distance,” Kvalbein tells the channel.
– Do not take responsibility
– It is important to say that the body should not be responsible for people complying with infection control rules. They are the guards and the police. But we want them to be vigilant and take responsibility if it builds up, the committee leader explains Dagbladet.
She notes that the message is aimed primarily at the body to be featured in central areas and that they plan to stop at places where the larger crowds can conceive.

– I hope and believe that people understand that everyone has the responsibility to care and pay attention. But if it starts to look like a concert, the bands can go ahead and play somewhere else. They should also join at night.
Board President Morten Langvik in Fredrikstad Janitsjarskole supports the municipality’s request.
– One might wonder if that is not a strange approach. But in this situation we are in now, it has no problem for us. We go from one place to another, and people are asked to stay inside, ”he tells NRK.
The police will not intervene.
A week ago, the government increased the recommended group size in private settings from five to 20 people. Events with up to 50 participants are now allowed in a public place, where there is a responsible organizer. Both sides still assume that it is possible to keep at least a meter apart.
Kvalbein emphasizes that the bands do not consider themselves responsible organizers when they play in public space, and that there is a limit of 20 people that applies to the audience.
Police Director Benedicte Bjørnland told VG on Wednesday that the police will not intervene to get people to follow the authorities’ advice, but that people can expect a “friendly recommendation” that the concentration be dissolved.
According to Kvalbein, there will be an “awake presence” of the police in Fredrikstad.
– They realize that this is a risky day. That is one of the reasons why we have given this message to the body. We would rather avoid guards having to divide crowds. It would be a sad sight on National Day.
She says the municipality and private organizers have been reluctant to indicate the time of various events, and encourage people to avoid the center.
