“As many of you know, I have suffered a serious injury. During a hockey game, I broke my neck and a spinal cord injury. Now I am transferred to a rehab center on Monday and I am more ready than ever to work. I really appreciate all the messages of support and it’s a pleasure to have you in this situation. “

Frisk Asker player Mats Hildisch writes this in a post he posted on photo-sharing service Instagram on Wednesday night.

The 18-year-old ice hockey player collided with goal in an under-21 game against Lørenskog on Saturday. Hildisch underwent surgery at Ullevål hospital on Sunday night. The young man will stay there next week. He will then be transferred to Sunnaa Hospital for rehabilitation.

Removed from the U18 team in January

Hildisch has trained with the A-team for Frisk Asker all year, says veteran Anders Bastiansen. Hildisch was selected for the U18 team in January. The young talent was also on Frisk Asker’s team for the elite league game against Vålerenga on 8 October, but did not play.

– The whole team was very affected by what happened. We still don’t know exactly how bad it is, but it’s bad. Terribly sad. A young man who has a whole hockey career and a whole life ahead of him. Now he has to fight for completely new things. It hurts a lot for him, the whole family and everyone who has to do with him, Bastiansen said Monday.

He describes him as “a very talented running back” whom Frisk Asker believed in. The 39-year-old had never experienced anything like this in ice hockey.

– It must have been the ultimate bad luck, he says about his partner’s injury this weekend. It is terribly sad and sad. You characterize yourself by the fact that things can happen quickly. You do not know what is coming and what you have next. Right now, I am very sorry on your behalf, says Bastiansen.
