The Supreme Court dismisses the lawsuit, led by the Texas government, to reject the election results in four troubled states. Writes a series of American media.
The Supreme Court has concluded that Texas cannot challenge or intervene in the way other states conduct elections, according to CBS News.
Texas claims in the lawsuit that the states of Georgia, Michigan, Pennsylvania and Wisconsin had made several mistakes in counting votes, which they believe require further investigation.
The lawsuit was filed Tuesday by Republican Ken Paxton and was backed by 17 states that Trump won during this year’s presidential election.
Trump lost lawsuit in Wisconsin
According to the New York Times, Texas asked the Supreme Court of the United States “to do something about the use of illegal election results without review and ratification (approval, journal.nm.) By the legal authorities of the accused states.”
According to various US media outlets, Donald Trump and 126 Republicans in Congress supported the lawsuit.
The Electoral College will meet Monday to formally elect Joe Biden as the new president of the United States, and the Texas lawsuit was seen as likely the last hope for President Trump before voters officially cast their votes.
“Sensational”
According to the New York Times, several legal experts have called the Texas lawsuit “sensational.”
– It looks like we have a new leader in the fight for the “wildest lawsuit” promoted to challenge the election result, Stephen I. Vladeck, a law professor at the University of Texas, wrote on Twitter.
The fight to invalidate the election result in four tipping states has Eirik Løkke, an American expert and adviser to the Civita think tank, described as a “clown coup attempt” for Dagbladet.
– It would be bad enough if the Supreme Court took the lawsuit to a hearing. Trump’s fight to change the election outcome has been a mix of absurd theories and public relations stunts. It undermines democratic norms and rules, and the worst thing is that so many members of the Republican Party sit still on the boat and participate in part. It is a coup, Løkke has declared.
He refused to admit defeat
At the request of President Donald Trump, votes have been counted three times in the state of Georgia since the Nov.3 election. All along, the poll has shown that incoming US President Joe Biden won the majority of the vote. Trump has also contacted Republicans in Michigan and Pennsylvania in hopes of changing the outcome of the election there, which he has failed to achieve.
Proven: it has destroyed nature
Trump has also sued to get the votes in Wisconsin, where Biden won by nearly 20,700 votes after a recount, disqualified. The above-mentioned demands are just a few of Trump’s many demands since the presidential election.
The following states supported Texas in the mass lawsuit: Missouri, Alabama, Arkansas, Florida, Indiana, Kansas, Louisiana, Mississippi, Montana, Nebraska, North Dakota, Oklahoma, South Carolina, South Dakota, Tennessee, Utah, and Virginia Western.
Biden took 306 voters after this year’s election, while Trump took 232. It takes 270 voters to win the US presidential election.
