On Saturday night, the finale of “Maskorama” begins, and there will probably be more than a million Norwegians sitting in front of the television to watch it. The competition has become hugely popular, perhaps especially since part of the game is guessing who’s hiding inside the costumes.
This has never happened before
Tonight only the Viking, the troll and the elk remain. In the comment fields on Instagram, Jodel, and Facebook, there is a heated discussion as to who the remaining finalists are, something we obviously don’t get to know until they drop the skins live.
Many trust that the Troll is Ulrikke Brandstorp and that Elgen is Markus Bailey. The Vikings, however, it seems that the Norwegian people, and the panel of judges, are more uncertain. Names from all possible walks of life are mentioned, but one has reappeared: YouTube profile Herman Dahl.
Cryptic answer
He may not be particularly well known among the elderly population of Norway, but with a large following on the video’s website and on other social media, he is a hero to children and young people. Dahl has been lucky enough to comment on the rumors if he is the Viking, until now.
On Saturday morning, he was asked directly from NRK if there was any truth to the rumors. Then he answered the following:

– So funny that many think I’m the Viking. I’m a big fan of “Maskorama”, and I’m looking forward to the final, he says cryptically.
When asked if he had agreed to be on such a show, he comes up with another cryptic message.
– Now I cross my fingers that it will be a season to wait. And if I’d had a chance to join, it would have been completely crude, explains Dahl.
He himself believes that the Viking is YouTube and Victor Sotberg television profile, a name that many others have also guessed.
– Cheated!
It’s not just Dahl who comments on the speculation on Saturday. Ulrikke Brandstorp has posted a post on Instagram that seems to confuse many. Many people think that she is the Troll, but the pop star poses next to the Troll in a video she has posted.
In the comment section, followers wonder if she is simply trying to mislead them. Trygve Skaug is one of those who believe that he is not fooled by deception. “Deception”, he writes, a comment in which he has received many likes. Others say they hope Brandstorp will win the final.
The fans do not seem to be deceived. However, it should be mentioned that the judging panel and the Norwegian people have tipped others besides Brandstorp, including Alexandra Rotan and Lisa Børud, but it is the name of the recent MGP winner that is repeated most often.
Dagbladet has so far failed to contact Ulrikke Brandstorp
NRK has asked her what she thinks about people who think she’s the talented Troll:
– I think it’s very cozy, he answers cryptically.
However, Markus Bailey, who many believe is hiding within Elgen, declined to comment on the case. The troll, the moose, and the Viking will at least be seen on stage Saturday night.
Reveal details of the final
Three finalists will sing a song each. After that, a finalist must remove their mask. Then the remaining two finalists will sing a song each in a duel. The last song chosen is kept secret.
