– We fear that more may die until all residents have left the disease behind, says municipal chief physician Carl Magnus Jensen on Eidsvoll.
The person who died last night in the hospital was a resident of the Vilberg Helsetun Municipal Asylum.
It is the first crown-related death in this nursing home.
They have had some cases of infection in the past. Both residents and employees have undergone extensive testing.
– 65 samples from yesterday are negative, says Jensen.
Vilberg Health Park now has a visitor stop until the situation is under control.
The babysitting service is also closed until further notice.
Six died in a private nursing home
Six people from the Villa Skaar Valstad private nursing home also lost their lives in recent weeks.
The nursing home is also in Eidsvoll Township. It is among the nursing homes most affected by deaths related to coronary heart disease in the country.
The first results showed that twelve residents and eight employees were infected. 21 employees were quarantined and the house was closed for all visits.
The first resident died last Monday. In just over a week, the death toll had risen by five.
Unclear source of infection
Eidsvoll Township is now keeping track of nursing home residents and employees.
– The most important thing we achieve is to continue with outbreak management at Villa Skaar Valstad. We will analyze employees and neighbors who so far have not tested positive every three days, says the municipal chief.
The source of the infection is currently unknown.
– We could not detect it in the follow-up. It is an added challenge that eight employees were ill at first, and after that we have not been able to discover the route of transmission.
The county governor has also gotten involved.
– We have a dialogue about the situation in Villa Skaar Valstad both with the municipal chief of Eidsvoll and with the management of the nursing home.
This is what County Doctor Marianne Skjerven-Martinsen writes in an email.
Feel safe
Frank Aarnes (82) is one of the residents of Villa Skaar Valstad who has been infected.
Despite the fact that he is now isolated in his room, he is in a good mood.
– We get updates every day from the manager on how things are, says Sister Berit Hjelm.
She says that he is one of those who are okay with the virus. He currently has no symptoms.
Hjelm adds that they are very happy with the nurses at home and says his brother feels well cared for.
She still makes it clear that it is crowded in Villa Skaar Valstad.
Aarnes was transferred there from another nearby nursing home a couple of months ago.
– Maybe it wasn’t the smart thing to do. But that was not known at the time, says Hjelm.
Outbreaks appear in nursing homes
On Wednesday, Eidsvoll Township also reported an outbreak of infection in a nursing home for people with developmental disabilities.
Four residents and two employees have been diagnosed with coronavirus.
The outbreak is related to the outbreak at the Villa Skaar Valstad nursing home.
Much of the household staff has been quarantined. Residents are treated in the infection room of the Vilberg health park, writes the municipality.
