Man to hospital after gas explosion in garage – NRK Vestland

The explosion could be caused by a propane gas leak, the West Police District reports on Twitter at 0440.

Police were notified of the explosion in Nordhordland at 02:21 on Saturday night via the VET center.

– A man in his 50s who stayed in a room next to the garage, was taken by air ambulance to the hospital with burns. He was conscious when he was treated, but we don’t know anything else about the extent of the damage, operations manager Bjarte Rebnord in the West Police District tells NTB.

The explosion occurred in a private garage and the occupants of the house heard a crash. In the garage there were several bottles of propane, the kind often used in caravans and boats.

– We suppose that the leakage of these may be a cause, but it is too early to say something concrete about it. The fire department claims that all the bottles appear to be intact, but there may be a leak from one of them that has evaporated in the garage and the warts have ignited. The explosion was so powerful that the garage door is pushed out well, says Rebnord.

For BA, Glenn Hamre in exchange 110 says they helped health and police, but there was no fire.

– It was a garage door that smelled like and things like that, says Hamre.
