Man in his 40s seriously injured after a fight

The Oslo police reported the incident at 12:17 p.m. on Twitter.

– We received a message from AMK just before 12 o’clock that there was a fight in the parking lot in the center of Stovner between two or more people. We sent a lot of resources to the site, says operations manager Gjermund Stokkli in the Oslo police.

When the police arrived, the attacker had fled the scene. Later it was ruled out that there were several involved.

The wounded man was taken to the hospital by ambulance.

– A man in his 40s is seriously injured and had to be rushed to hospital. The person in question likely has head injuries, says Stokkli.

Arrested man

At 12:40, the police announced on Twitter that a person had been arrested.

– A man in his 30s was observed by a patrol near the center. The person in question was apprehended by police without drama and is being detained, says the operations manager.

The man is well known to the police since before. Police claim that there is currently no obvious relationship between the victim and the suspect.

The police have no information indicating that weapons were used during the fight.

– I laughed

Police have secured the scene, are working to question witnesses and obtain video surveillance.

The course of events and the cause of the fight are not yet known. Police say it is probably not related to gang crime.

– This is an incident of serious violence and we are working to map what has happened, says Stokkli.
