Man in his 30s found dead after boat accident in Sandnessjøen

A man in his 30s has died and a man in his 50s is injured after a boat accident in Sandnessjøen last night.

This was stated by the police in a press release on Sunday morning.

The man in his 50s has serious injuries and was transferred from Sandnessjøen to St. Olav Hospital in Trondheim.

– There is talk of fractures and head trauma, and the trauma is very serious. Especially when he was transferred to Trondheim, reports Dr Espen Myrstad through the Sandnessjøen hospital press officer.

Family members have been notified.

I found the lost ship on an islet

The two men had gone fishing in a 17-foot open boat around 11 p.m. Saturday.

When they did not return after the scheduled time, the family contacted the police for help in the search.

The police received the report of concern at 5:17 a.m.

Just over an hour later, AMK was notified that a family acquaintance had found the missing person’s boat on Suttaren Islet outside Leinesodden.

– Then a series of local resources were activated down there, to go out to the place. One person was found dead and another injured. The wounded man was sent to the hospital by air ambulance.

Investigated as an accident

The man in his 30s was confirmed dead on the spot. The other was transported by air ambulance to Sandnessjøen hospital.

The two men are from Sandnessjøen, but were on a cabin trip in the area when the accident occurred.

The police have opened a case to clarify the course of events, which so far is not clear. The case is being investigated as an accident.

Now they are working on interrogations. In addition, the ship has been transported ashore and will be examined.
