On Sunday morning, a dead man was found in Venabygdsfjellet.

The search operation for the missing person has now ended, police report on Twitter shortly after 10:30 a.m. on Sunday.

– A police helicopter in collaboration with the Red Cross and the police on the ground have found a dead man. The person has not been identified, but it is probably the missing person who has been found. Family members have been notified, police write.

Police were notified of the missing man at 5.30pm on Saturday. On Sunday morning, the police were able to report that the search operation so far had been unsuccessful. Early Saturday morning a police helicopter was deployed.

Tonight, dog patrols, snowmobiles and Red Cross teams assisted in the search.

– During the night we have had around 56 Red Cross pieces and 30 scooter patrols. They have searched a large area with teams of two and two scooters, says Anita Abelsen, who is the district council leader at the Red Cross Auxiliary Corps in Oppland.

Police are not sure when the man went skiing, but they believe it was Friday. The man’s car was found in Kiwi in Venabygd on Saturday, and police assume he came down the mountain on skis.
