Man died in work accident

At 09.55, the police were notified of a work accident in Gullbrå in Eksingedalen in Vaksdal municipality.

A worker in his 40s had a steel beam on him. Emergency services were withdrawn and first aid was put in place.

– It must be a serious accident. The man was hit by a steel beam weighing about 500 kilos, said Operations Manager Knut Dahl-Michelsen in the West Police District.

The injured man was taken by air ambulance to Haukeland University Hospital, but his death has now been confirmed, police write in a press release.

The accident occurred in connection with landslide prevention work. The man is said to have been lying in a difficult position on the ground and was carried on a stretcher from the mountainside.

The cause of the accident is unknown, but it is being investigated by the police.

The man’s relatives have been notified of the death, police report.
