Majority for longer trips to Hurtigruten

On Thursday, the Labor Party, the Socialist People’s Party and the Socialist People’s Party supported the FRP’s proposal to ask the government to reserve funds for three additional ships as a measure in relation to the covid-19 outbreak. Today there are only two ships on the section between Bodø and Kirkenes with calls every other day.

– This is not enough and does not cover current needs, especially with regard to the situation of the crown.FRP’s transport policy spokesman Bård Hoksrud tells NTB.

The Labor Party, the Socialist People’s Party and the Socialist People’s Party put forward a separate proposal that the Hurtigruten should sail with six ships along the entire Bergen-Kirkenes route with calls every other day. The parties allow the use of crown support to increase the number of exits if more money is needed than Hurtigruten already receives, but this proposal did not win a majority.

Arne Nævra from SV says that the green-reds think that the Frp proposal is not good enough, but that it is better than the current situation and therefore they chose to support the proposal.

Bård Hoksrud says that Frp could not support the red greens proposal because the parties had not invested money in the proposal, but provided that Hurtigruten should offer more navigation within the agreement between the state and the company.

In its alternative budget, FRP proposes to invest an additional NOK 108 million in the purchase of shipping services along the coast to Kirkenes to secure up to three new ships calling every other day.
