– The northern part of our municipality is without electricity, without mobile coverage and there is probably also a break in a fiber cable, says the mayor of the municipality of Sirdal, Jonny Liland (Labor).
Not sure how many are without power at the moment, but it should be all north of Handeland.

The power outage is due to heavy rainfall in the municipality. The intense and wet snow, in addition to the strong winds, has had consequences.
As a result of the blackout, both the Police and the municipality have sent press releases asking people who have cabins in the municipality not to come.
A large area of the municipality of Sirdal is affected by power outages.
Emergency network out of service
Press releases indicate that the emergency network is out of service and therefore it is difficult to notify the emergency services in case of incidents.
“The water and sewage systems are without electricity. The capacity in the high-rise pools will not last long if many leisure residents come to Sirdal now, Friday afternoon, ”the municipality wrote in the press release.
Agder Energi nett performs troubleshooting and error correction. There will be many infractions and errors that will be corrected, and it is unclear how long it will take.
– For the sake of personal safety, we ask people to honor the invitation to stay home until the municipality arrives with new information, says the director of operations in the south-west police district, Nikolai Austrheim.

Odd Joar Moen was at Øvre Sirdal from Thursday to Friday. He spent the night in his purpose-built car and returned to Sola, where he lives, on Friday morning.
– There was large amounts of snow during the night. I drove to the barrier and quickly discovered that I had to cross on the outside. I have hardly ever experienced such amounts of snow, although I travel a lot in the mountains, he tells NRK.

Several areas of cabins affected
Mayor Liland tells NRK that several cabin areas have been affected.
– We have 4300 holiday homes in Sirdal. Many of them are to the north of the quarry.
Ask the cabin owners to wait until the power comes back, or at least until you know when it might come back.
– We receive updates from Agder Energi nett continuously, and this afternoon we will have a contingency meeting. “We understood from them that this is demanding because of the snow,” says Liland.
