Around 1 pm police that the action has ended and that the apprehended person has been expelled from the scene. The police will return with more information at a press conference.

Bomb threat

A large police operation was started in connection with the escape attempt. Danish BT reported that Madsen also threatened to carry a bomb. Ekstra Bladet describes that Madsen must have been wearing a belt-like object around his stomach.

Police are said to have been present with both the bomb squad and special forces. The bomb squad is said to have investigated Madsen, but the special forces are said to have kept him under surveillance.

Ekstra Bladet also reports that Madsen has previously been isolated due to suspected escape plans.

Madsen’s attorney, Betina Hald Engmark, did not know about the case when she was contacted by BT Dagbladet and she also tried to reach attorney Engmark without success.

Dagbladet has been in contact with Madsen’s wife, Jenny Curpen, who does not want to comment on the incident.
