The runner from Nes decided to race to the last hill. Towards the goal there was no one near her. The closest rival, Ane Appelkvist Stenseth, was defeated by 2.55 seconds.

Excellent Klæbo at the beginning of the season

– I didn’t expect to win here today. But I felt good about the bet and just had to “give in” to what was good in the end, Weng told NRK.

Third place went to Anna Svendsen from Tromsø. This was followed by Mathilde Skjærdalen Myhrvold, Anikken Gjerde Alnæs and Ingrid Andrea Gulbrandsen.

– It was a surprise. She wasn’t the favorite at first, it was Anna who took that stamp. A little loser who just gave it his all. I went as fast as I could and hoped it would last, Weng tells TV 2.

– Today I felt good, I had good skis and things were going well. I guess it was just that. Right now I have to say that I was the best, but I’m not sure that will be the case tomorrow, or in two or three months. There will probably be more girls who can beat me. I don’t think I’m going to get used to this, no, I still have to work, he adds.

Stenseth had the best time in the prologue ahead of Svendsen.

– Lotta was strong. But it doesn’t surprise me. She showed good rhythm at the meeting a couple of weeks ago, Stenseth said.
