Long-term forecasts for the next ten days divide Norway in two: Nordland has good weather – NRK

When the Meteorological Institute was going to publish a radar image of the weather forecast for the next ten days, they discovered something unusual.

Weather and wind repeat in a fixed pattern, and perhaps especially in fall. Weather systems enter the continent from the west.

But for the next ten days, the exact opposite happens.

– Generally there is greater precipitation on the west side of the basin. Which means western Norway and northern Norway get cool, wet weather from the sea, says on-call meteorologist Elise Gloppen Hundnes at Værvarslinga for northern Norway.

Now there is a high pressure system in this whole area, which means that we have sea winds and dry air.

– The east wind gives a drying effect on the west side of the mountain, says the meteorologist.

– It gets good with a break

Last week, Northern Norway had to endure a long time. The remnants of Tropical Storm Sally devastated the coast of Nordland and Troms. Several rivers crossed its banks and more than 1,000 people were isolated when several bridges collapsed.

Two days later the storm hit. This time it was Lofoten, Vesterålen and Sør-Troms who noticed the forces of nature.

– It will be good with a break now. The weekend in the north will be pleasant with good temperatures. The same can be said about the weather next week, says meteorologist Elise Gloppen Hundnes.

It fits well in both the North and West, which have fall holidays the first week of October.

Rain in the south

In southern Norway there is a fairly strong low pressure. This means that it gets very wet in Sørlandet and Østlandet.

Meteorologists estimate between 50 and 200 millimeters of precipitation per day.

– The unusual thing now is that the low pressure is maintained for several days.

High pressures also come with high temperatures. It will be hotter in western Norway than in the east. In Bergen it will be between 16 and 18 degrees during the weekend.

Around Møre og Romsdal, where you often get a good effect from the east wind, it will be over 20 degrees in some places.

Here the waves wash the car in the storm in Bodø: – People were completely inconsiderate.
