Liverpool appeared to take all three points against bottom West Bromwich. Sadio Mané scored first, but nine minutes before the end Semi Ajayi stabbed the tie from a corner.

The hosts completely dominated in the first half, but made it much more difficult after the break.

Then it was bad that midfielder Jöel Matip had to leave due to injury after the hour. Rhys Williams, 19, became his understudy.

Matip pointed out early on that he had to be replaced and stuck to the groin.

Liverpool dominance

Liverpool have not lost at Anfield in 3.5 years. Now they are visited by the last one who hit them

Sadio Mané opened the ball after ten minutes. The Senegalese got an opening when he first dampened the ball on his chest, after a good pass from Jöel Matip, and put the ball into the net until 1-0 for the Reds.

– Look how active it is. It doesn’t give the defenders peace. It has also been a long time since he scored at home in the league. There have been nine games since the last one, and that was in September, TV 2 soccer expert Simen Stamsø-Møller says in the study.

Fought back

The guests had nothing to bring in the first place. They were mostly with all the men within their own half, while Liverpool dominated. At half-time, possession of the ball was 82-18 for Liverpool.

After the break, it was a much brighter West Bromwich on the canvas. They stood higher on the field and created more opportunities.

Nine minutes before full time, they would be paid after a corner kick. Semi Ajayi was the tallest and headed 1-1 down the post.

– It feels great. Not many come here and score points against Liverpool. We didn’t want to let in, but in the end we got what we deserved, says West Bromwich player Matthew Phillips after the game.

Liverpool continues to top the table with 32 points, while West Bromwich is below the line with eight points.
