(Sheffield United-Liverpool 0-2) Liverpool recorded their first Premier League points since January. Curtis Jones dedicated his goal to Alisson Becker.

On Liverpool’s sixth shot, Curtis Jones hit perfectly inside the right boot. He ended a four-game losing streak that reached bottom with a 2-0 loss to Everton last Saturday. Only the Champions League victory over Leipzig has warmed Liverpool’s hearts in February.

– It has been a difficult moment for me and for the club. This goal was for Alisson (Becker) and his family, Jones tells Sky Sport and is heartbroken. The Liverpool goalkeeper lost his father last week and was not on the Liverpool squad.

“We put things together and we got a good game,” says Jones.

Who the hero was before the break at Bramall Lane, no doubt.

Liverpool created five great opportunities. Sheffield United goalkeeper Aaron Ramsdale stopped them all.

– He played an incredible game, said a satisfied Liverpool manager, Jürgen Klopp.

It didn’t help that Robert Firmino came alone in the blank box. Or that Curtis Jones escaped into the area. Ramsdale saved with his foot when Mohamed Salah got the chance from an angle. Trent Alexander-Arnold and Georginio Wijnaldum also failed to beat the 22-year-old with 31 youth internationals for England.

– He has played the turn of his life, said TV 2 commentator Peder Mørtvedt.

At the opposite end of the field, Liverpool posed with their 18th midfielder partner for the season. Nat Phillips and Ozan Kabak had little to do, but the latter hit the ball into his own goal under heavy pressure from United striker Oliver McBurnie. But the Scotsman had been out of the game. So the Turk escaped in horror.

But three minutes after the break, it was over for the home team.

Curtis Jones put the ball into the net after Trent-Arnold did a great job down the right. Two thirds of the ball went out, but it wasn’t enough. The Liverpool defender’s post went through a foot at the first post and opened up a huge gap for Jones’ first goal in the league this season.

McBurnie was released on the Liverpool field a few minutes later, but the header did not hit the metal. With 11 points after 26 games, he no longer smells of the Sander Berge club championship.

Relegation sucks after the 21st loss in 26 games.

– I don’t think anyone can ask questions about our attitude or commitment. But sometimes you are not good enough and you lack quality, describes manager Chris Wilder.

Firmino brought out the magic 25 minutes before the end. The fantastic ball treatment ended with a triangle with Sadio Mané and a shot on goal by United defender Kean Bryan. So 0-2 and thanks for tonight.

But the Brazilian does not get to score the goal in the history books. The Premier League has already scored an own goal for Sheffield United. Liverpool are the second club behind their neighbor Everton to exceed 7,000 goals.

Salah had his big shot at the back post, but the Premier League’s top scorer remains with 17 goals this season. He stopped at 2-0, a well-deserved victory after 8-1 in shots on goal.

– It is normal to be criticized, says Jürgen Klopp.

– Many people have dismissed us. It’s totally fine. With all the problems we have had, we continue to fight for the first places, he says. Back on the winning track, Liverpool are just two points behind West Ham in last place in the Champions League.

The next task for Klopp’s men will be to end the losing streak at Anfield, which is the tangent to a negative club record of 1923. It contains four consecutive losses. The first opportunity comes against Chelsea on Thursday, while Fulham visit Liverpool next Sunday.
