Mohamed Salah is currently in the training camp of the national team with Egypt.

The Egyptian Football Federation writes on Twitter that Mohamed Salah has been infected with covid-19.

According to the statement from the Egyptian Football Association, Salah shows no signs of symptoms, even though he has tested positive.

Attended a wedding

It is currently unknown how Salah managed to become infected.

The Liverpool player is said to have attended his brother’s wedding earlier this week, before joining the Epypt national team squad that will face Togo for two matches in qualifying for the African Championship.

Photos and video clips from the wedding party are now attracting attention and, among others, the main English newspaper Daily Mail has reported that Salah has been filmed while dancing closely with other party participants.

However, it is by no means confirmed that the Liverpool star was infected in connection with the wedding.

None of the other players on the Egypt team have tested positive.

More players out

Salah’s positive crown test joins the ranks of bad news for Liverpool during the national team’s break. Earlier in the day, Joe Gomez suffered a serious knee injury and it may look like he will be out for a long time.

Liverpool also have Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain, Trent Alexander-Arnold, Virgil van Dijk and Thiago Alcântara on the disabled list.

Liverpool are in third place in the Premier League table, and Salah has been in proper scoring form at the start of this year’s season. There have been eight hits over the Egyptian, which means he is a shared top scorer with Jaime Vardy, Dominic Calvert-Lewin and Son Heung-Min.
