Donald Trump on Thursday released new guidelines on how states should ease the social restrictions associated with the crown pandemic.
“We are ready for the next phase: a reopening of the United States,” the President of the United States said at a press conference on Thursday.
Here it announces that the United States foresees three phases in how to alleviate the restrictions in the states, depending on the number of cases of infection and the hospital capacity of the state.
– We will open, one careful step at a time. Some states may open before others because they do not have the same problems. We are going to start our lives again, and the economy, responsibly, says Trump.
He adds that he believes he and the governors, both Republican and Democrat, have a “great relationship” on this issue.
Earlier this week Trump aroused strong reactions from New York Governor Andrew Cuomo when he said his power was “total”, and that it was he who had the last word when reopening the states.
Thursday’s message was the opposite:
– Governors have the opportunity to adapt their approach, because each state is different. They are all beautiful, and we love them all, but they are different, Trump said, emphasizing that those who need to remain closed will be allowed.
Deborah Birx, who is responsible for coordinating the coronary response at the White House, presented the three phases during Thursday’s press conference.
Before the first phase can begin, there must be a reduction in infection over a period of 14 days.
Phase 1
- Vulnerable and at-risk people should stay home, avoid meetings of more than ten people, and avoid unnecessary travel.
- Schools that are closed today should continue to be closed, and home offices are recommended.
- Some larger facilities, such as some restaurants, may reopen with strict measures of social distance. It is recommended that the bars remain closed.
- Gyms can reopen as long as they maintain social distance.
In phases two and three, the measures are gradually smoothed out:
Phase 2
- In phase two, crowds of up to 50 people are allowed, compared to ten in phase one.
- Vulnerable people still need to remain in their homes, and home offices are also encouraged.
- Trips not deemed necessary can be resumed.
- In this phase, both schools and kindergartens can be reopened.
- Visits to nursing homes and nursing homes are still prohibited.
Phase 3
- This is “the new normal,” says Deborah Birx.
- You could live like before, but be careful with hand hygiene.
- The most vulnerable must still be cautious and limit the time they spend in large crowds.
Trump previously set May 1 as the date he wants to start the country’s reopening process, but the White House does not have a deadline on Thursday.
When asked if they imagined a fourth phase, where concerts, football matches, and other similar events can take place as before, infection protection expert Anthony Fauci replies that it will probably take time, but he imagines it will be possible.
President Trump says he has spoken to various sports teams, who say they will start without fans to start.
– But when this is over, we will have full sands again, he says.
– Is there a state that is ready to open?
“Several governors tell me they are ready, I think there will be good news in the coming days about this,” Trump said.
“In theory, they can start this tomorrow,” he says, adding that he believes 29 states are well positioned to open.
