City quickly went ahead, but a goal from Rodrigo in the second half ensured the tie.

LEEDS – MANCHESTER CITY 1-1:

Manchester City clearly opened the game in the best light and was therefore not undeserved when Raheem Sterling put the hosts ahead.

In the second half, there was only one goal, when the new Leeds signing, Rodrigo, appeared after a corner. Therefore, it ended 1-1 at Elland Road.

City seemed to be in full control midway through the first half, but Leeds got more and more into the game. One who stood out in the match image was, among others, TV 2 commentator Peder Mørtvedt.

– There are notable numbers of ball possession in that game here. Manchester City have the ball cleared at least against the newly promoted Leeds. It’s so rare what happens in a Pep Guardiola team

Both Kjetil Rekdal and Morten Langli expressed enthusiasm on Twitter after the match, for Leeds’ impressive performance against the great team.

British pound score

It was a City team that started in a hundred, and already in the third minute Kevin De Bruyne was close to sending the guests in the lead. On the free kick from about 30 meters down the left side, the Belgian proved a freak when he saw that Leeds goalkeeper Illan Meslier was slightly off the line but the shot went to the post.

Fifteen minutes later, it was Sterling’s turn to seize the opportunity, after receiving the ball down the left. The 25-year-old stopped and was safe when he literally knocked the ball down in the far corner.

A totally deserved goal, and before the first half was played, City were already up in eleven finals.

– It’s quite extreme, Nils Johan Semb said from the commentary position, partly because it meant they had created an opportunity every two minutes.

Compensation

After the scoring, Leeds got more involved in the game and got two huge chances before the break signal disappeared.

At first it was Stuart Dallas who had a great opportunity after playing solo, but Ederson quickly veered off and diverted the attempt to the left back. Then Benjamin Mendy Leeds and Luke Ayling presented another incredible opportunity, but again it was City’s last Brazilian defense that was the visiting team’s saving angel.

Ederson, on the other hand, was not a patent on the goalkeeper’s play when he nearly missed the ball after a Leeds corner kick. The ball finally ended up in the legs of substitute Rodrigo, who put the ball into the net.

The same man was again dangerous ahead a few minutes later, but his header forced Ederson to a big save.

An entertaining finale to the match did not end in more goals, thus ending with a points split.
