– The National Institute of Public Health has confirmed what we feared, Mayor Hanne Opdan said at a press conference at 4:00 p.m. Sunday afternoon.

The municipality has received responses to the samples that were sent to the National Institute of Public Health. 11 of the samples show the mutated British virus.

A total of 74 people have been infected with corona after the outbreak at Langhus Living and Service Center. This is where the mutated bud was first discovered.

These people belong to the municipality of Nordre Follo.

– But we know that there are cases of contagion in six neighboring municipalities. These are common cases of corona, but they can undergo mutations, says Kerstin City Chief Physician Anine Johnsen Myhrvold.

The Norwegian Institute of Public Health has found no new samples of the mutated virus in other parts of the country besides Nordre Follo.

Kindergarten children are infected

During Monday, the municipality expects to receive responses to around 250 samples from the National Institute of Public Health.

– We must expect to discover more cases of mutated virus, says the municipal chief.

There is also a case of a mutated virus in one of the kindergartens in the municipality. At least one child of kindergarten age is infected. Another child may also be infected.

Introduced strict measures

To curb the outbreak of the mutated British coronavirus detected in Nordre Follo, the government introduced strict measures in Oslo and nine other municipalities.

Two of the 17 infected with the mutated virus have died. The route of infection is unknown.

On Sunday evening, there may be stricter measures in various municipalities.

Hospitals in the affected municipalities have also acted. Among other things, the employees of the Nordre Follo hospital cannot go to work.
