Police were notified of the smell of gas at various locations in downtown Kongsvinger at 9.39am on Friday.

– The fire service is going through the building now with a gas meter. The problem is that we don’t know what it is or where it comes from, says Chief of Staff Pål Erik Teigen in Innlandet police district at 10.40 a.m. NTB.

Looking for the gas source

Eight minutes later, Operations Manager Per Solberg tells VG that the evacuees are back in the building, but it is still unclear where the gas is coming from or the cause of the leak.

The police work closely with the municipality and the fire service to find out where the gas may come from.

– We verify the gas facilities of the municipality, as well as the transport of gas both by road and rail, Teigen says.

– no one injured

The police have been informed that the gas is causing discomfort.

– Those who were evacuated have been reviewed and none of them were injured, adds the chief of staff.

The gas has been concentrated in the Telenor building, but the public has also known it from outside.
