– Strong reactions

– There are very strong reactions among teachers, classmates and many others about what happened. Everyone here knows someone affected. In and around school, there are particularly heavy and emotional thoughts about what happened to Victoria, principal Stine Thorstensen tells Dagbladet.

The start of classes after the holidays is divided into two days because all the schools are located in the red crown sector. The crisis team of the municipality of Gjerdrum will participate in the two days with the opening of the school.

– Due to the rules of the crown, we have not planned any large meeting now around what has happened. We will start with everyday life as best we can, says the director.

In practice, this means homeschooling and digital education as long as national crown regulations are tightened. Amid everything else, the school hasn’t had any special corona issues.

Several evacuated students

In addition to human tragedies, both the school, the teachers and the students have had many practical problems to solve in a few days.

– Several students have been evacuated with their families and have lost PC and much more. The school is working on getting new PCs and what is needed for school days, says principal Stine Thorstensen from Gjerdrum ungdomsskole.

The municipality’s primary school with around 250 students is physically closed. The school is located in an area prone to landslides.

The consolation in crisis-stricken Gjerdrum is that the fall of the crown has provided better training in digital learning than a normal year would have provided.

– very unreal

– I will continue to describe the situation as very unreal, Mayor Anders Østensen told the press on Monday.

More than five days after the landslide, the rescue operation continues in full force.

“We are still in a rescue operation and there is still hope to find survivors,” said the leader of the police task Roger Pettersen during the press conference in. Monday 09.

The fire service is currently working with four crews in the landslide area. They work in the places where the dogs have marked. Among other things, they will work in cavities and houses throughout the day.

At 3.30 pm, the police stated that so far no finds have been made.
