Tuesday night became (finally) clear after a lot of time and much speculation. There was interest from France, England and Italy. But Alexander Sørloth goes to Germany and plays the Bundesliga for one of the best teams in recent years: RB Leipzig. He will also be the second most expensive Norwegian to change clubs.

Expectations do not diminish for that.

Sørloth goes from being a scoring machine in Turkish football, transferred to the national team, and into a career you never know what it leads to. In the past 11 months, Sørloth has scored 33 goals for Trabzonspor and six goals in five games for Norway.

Sørloth also ranks high in the efficiency stats for Norway: Lars Lagerbäck scored an average every 57 minutes from Trøndelag’s big man.

These are invaluable goals for the Swedish coach of Norway. In recent matches he has been able to sit down and the new attacking game Sørloth and forward Erling Braut Haaland have played.

Now Sørloth will undergo a completely different and new system, fighting for a place in the team, a place that was ultimately safe as the famous Turkish Trabzonspor bench.

And with that comes the uncertainty, for Lagerbäck. Next Monday he will bring out perhaps his most important national team since he was hired in January 2017.
