Stabæk Yaw player Ihle Amankwah (31) describes Abid Raja (V) as ignorant and disrespectful. The Minister of Culture himself feels that he has support in Sports Norway.

– I think Abid Raja has had a strange and condescending tone with soccer, with opinions showing a lack of knowledge and respect that soccer is an industry with thousands of jobs, Amankwah told VG.

The former Fire-stopper has recently followed the debate over the reopening of Norway, where the date of a possible training and start of the series for football has become a hot topic. Although the Norwegian Institute of Public Health (FHI) has stated that the association’s infection prevention plan is sound, the government has not yet given a clear signal for the rollout. This is how Amankwah reacts strongly, which Trond Giske (Ap) has also done. The latter, on the other hand, has been called a “soccer bully” by Health Minister Bent Høie.

– I think it’s good that Giske is talking to Raja in front. The way he dismantles Raja’s arguments is good. Many industries have already opened that are at least as dangerous as soccer, and more. And both FHI and an Aarhus study (not peer-reviewed, ed. Note) show that the risk of infection for soccer is minimal, Amankwah believes.

The government has announced they will release new information on Thursday.

– cold shoulder

The Stabæk plug believes that Raja and the government now challenge the FHI’s advice. He also remembers that football “is probably the sport that most influences and occupies the Norwegian people and the voters of Raja.”

“For Raja and the government to continue with measures that are no longer in line with, but challenging, the FHI, they are more reminiscent of exaggerated crime than infection control,” Amankwah said.

The 31-year-old says the contingency plan approved by the Soccer Association includes several measures that will limit players’ opportunities for social contact and movement.

– We have said that we are ready to make important changes in the way we conduct combat and training, so we are on the supply side in those grades. So I think football deserves better than a cold shoulder and a message to stand in line, says the Stabæk player.

Mjøndalen captain Christian Gauseth has presented Giske’s statements in the case. The Labor Party’s political sports spokesman has said, among other things, that the government should open up to football, as the FHI has said the federation’s contagion protection plan is sound. Giske also believes that there should be no queuing system for sectors that can follow infection control guidelines.

– It is easy to dismiss your contribution as a cheap populist point. However, I think that his experience as Minister of Culture means that he has a good vision of the processes of sport. Therefore, the arguments are also worth listening to, Gauseth tells VG.

– How important do you think the statements can be?

– The government will probably follow your plan anyway. I hope and believe that plan is to open up more to sport on Thursday.

Raja responds Amankwah

At the same time Raja affirms that he has not had a condescending attitude towards soccer.

– I’m sorry that Yaw misinterpreted me that way. I don’t have a bad tone about sports and soccer, which I personally like very much. I had good phone conversations with eg Fire, VIF, RBK, KBK etc this weekend. It seems to me that the dialogue was mutually good. And I intend to continue the good dialogue with the sport, “Raja told VG on Tuesday night.

The Minister of Culture refers to the meeting he had with the presidents of the Norwegian Sports Federation, the football, handball and swimming association on Tuesday morning, where the parties discussed various scenarios for the reopening of Sports Norway.

– I also described how this could happen and the way forward. I take football and sports concerns more seriously. I have been explicit, in front of the sport and then with the press, that our decision of “predictability” comes in just two days. He was very happy with the soccer president, says Raja.

I have support

The views of Erna Solberg and the Minister of Health, Bent Høie, will naturally be of great importance in this matter. The Prime Minister told VG that the goal is to open Norway before summer, “planned slowly but surely and carefully.”

After Raja’s aforementioned meeting with federal presidents on Tuesday morning, the Minister of Culture also met with an understanding of sports leaders.

– We have had a very constructive dialogue with a minister of culture who is passionate about sport. When I read that it has nothing to do with sports, I think “you have to write about it,” said Berit Kjøll at the Norwegian Sports Federation.

– I am very happy to have had a good meeting today. We were presented with some thoughts and the Minister of Culture explained the evaluations and the dilemmas they face regarding the gradual opening of society. We He has been watching soccer and we think it is important that it works again. There are 370,000 players scratching their feet to start, said Terje Svendsen of the Norwegian Football Association.
