Labor Party, ODM | The MDGs are the watermelons of Norwegian politics: green on the outside, red on the inside

– For the 2021 elections, it is irrelevant to go to the Conservative Party, says the deputy leader of ODM, Arild Hermstad.

Shock.

Disbelief.

The Green Party pauses its supposed bloc independence and openly declares that it wants a red-green government, according to a central government decision. The case will be reexamined by the national board this weekend.

– There is no doubt that it will be enormously demanding to lead the Labor Party to a new direction in politics, where we bet on the oil industry. But we think it will be even tougher on the other side, ODM deputy leader Arild Hermstad tells NRK.

The decision of the central table establishes that the dream is a green block made up of SV, MDG and Venstre. “Without a realistic opportunity for a green bloc, the Green Party will initiate talks with the Labor Party and the Socialist Left Party to see what results can be achieved for people and the environment in a coalition.”

The good thing about the MDGs that are now being set is that bourgeois voters can now know that the MDGs want a red-green government. It will show how realistic the illusions and the extra dream are.

Interestingly, the MDGs do not mention the Center Party among its dream partners. Naturally, the two sides are on such a clear collision course that Trygve Slagsvold Vedum’s progress looks more like a nightmare for the ODMs.

On average in opinion polls, the air has gone a bit outside the MDGs. In November of last year, the average was 6.1 percent, according to Pollofpolls. A year later, the party has dropped to 4.4 percent, and with it dangerously close to the limit of the barrier.

An interesting analysis by Pollofpolls shows that it is the Center Party that attracts bourgeois voters. Since the last elections, the Center Party has won 80,000 ex-bourgeois voters, while the Labor Party has won none. – Without the participation of Vedum voters, not Støre as prime minister, is the conclusion.

Now, just over nine months before the elections, the bourgeois side has been reasonably cleared up. Conservative leader Erna Solberg is the obvious candidate for prime minister, with the binding support of the Christian People’s Party and the Liberal Party, and is dependent on making commitments with the Progress Party.

On the left, it is chaotic. The Center Party will not rule with SV, while SV and the Labor Party will have the Center Party. Now the MDGs have fitted in, but without the Center Party. And Red becomes the troublesome cousin on the far left.

If companies survive the corona pandemic, a billion red-green tax bill awaits them

When the Green Party now chooses a side, it is hardly surprising. Already last week the news came that the party will increase taxes by 32.5 million, almost double that of SV and a few billion more than Red.

In the past, the ODMs have rejected claims that they are like a watermelon, with a green rind on the outside but a solid red color on the inside. The party has doubted the independence of the bloc and has said they can cooperate from both the right and the left. Now that presentation is not very credible.
