Labor and the Green Party: Norway must do more to stop virus variant

Labor leader Jonas Gahr Støre believes that it was correct to stop all direct flights from the UK immediately, but that is not enough.

– We know that the mutated version has also appeared in other countries and seems to be spreading rapidly. Therefore, the government should also introduce mandatory tests at the border, which the Labor Party has defended and presented as a proposal in the Storting, it says in an email to NTB.

The FRP has done the same, but the Center Party and the government parties rejected the proposal. FRP believes that the government does not take import infections seriously.

– A large number of countries closed their borders early Sunday, when a mutated variant of the coronavirus was discovered in the UK. It’s good that Norway is catching up, but honestly Bent Høie, this doesn’t hold up, says Progress Party health policy spokesperson Åshild Bruun-Gundersen.

“During the summer and fall, the government has introduced a series of test and quarantine exemptions, and even if they do notice a mutated virus from one of our neighboring countries, they cannot act quickly,” says Bruun-Gundersen.
