The recipe for success? International fascination for Norwegian nature and Viking clothing.
When Kristina Bonnevie (29) downloaded TikTok half a year ago, it was to learn about the app her daughter and her friends spent a lot of time on.
Six months later, the story is quite different.
Today, he has 478,000 followers and 15 million views on his newly created TikTok account.

From zero to 400,000
It all started with Bonnevie going on a trip to Norway from Lindesnes to Kirkenes. Along the way, he shared small video clips on the new social media platform of what he saw.
Norwegian nature created compromise. The following gradually increased.
But only when Bonnevie was to appear in a commercial in October did the account “take off.”
The recording took place in idyllic Avaldsnes and Gudvangen, or “Viking Valley” as it is also called.
– The ad was for a Canadian company that sells beard products to men. They needed local people and we wore wonderful Viking costumes. I filmed a bit on set, from the surroundings. There were many starving Viking souls from the United States they collected, laughs Bonnevie.
In one month, the 29-year-old’s followers grew to more than 400,000.
Adult Americans, Germans, Poles, Romanians, and Russians who dream of going to Norway left comments on Viking videos.
– I was very surprised to see your response to Norwegian nature. They describe what they see in my videos as “unreal.” My followers have made me rediscover Norway. When you see other people’s response, you realize how special Norwegian nature is, says Bonnevie.
She adds:
– Also, we have another special story with the Viking Age. This is something that has appeared in movies and television series in recent years. I think people want to see that Viking stories can also exist in reality.
Dreams of living like a Viking
Bonnevie is under the impression that more and more people want to “live the Viking lifestyle” in the form of Viking events and the purchase of Viking clothing. She thinks that’s one of the reasons her TikTok account has become so popular.
The most popular video is that of Bonnevie and a friend wearing Viking clothing while throwing an ax.
– Has 15 million views, she says.
Another video that has been widely viewed shows Gudvangen’s sight. In a third video, Bonnevie is filmed with Spartacus star Manu Bennett, who also starred in the Canadian commercial.

However, he hasn’t realized that people really understand what Bonnevie is saying.
– It’s crazy. Several I’ve met in real life have asked me if it’s me in the videos, he laughs.
– How does your daughter think that her mother has become a TikTok celebrity?
– She thinks it’s very strange, but at the same time she’s probably more used to this than I am. He has grown up believing that video sharing is normal. For us who are older, it’s probably a little scarier, she says.
– What advice do you have for people who dream of many followers on TikTok?
– Norwegian nature is always a winner. Many of my followers are inspired by my videos and want to go and experience Norway.
