Veronica Kristiansen (30) returns to the squad before Friday’s semi-final at the European Handball Championship, against Denmark. The Norwegian Handball Association writes this on their website.

Kristiansen was replaced by the EC team and replaced by Vipers player Marta Tomac before Tuesday’s game against Hungary. Now Kristiansen returns to the team, Tomac is leaving.

– It is in order to load the management in Vikki. The plan is for it to be ready again by Friday. Marta comes in for two reasons: it’s to replace Vikki and then it’s to make sure she spreads playing time to players like Stine Bredal Oftedal and Henny Ella Reistad. Otherwise, everyone is healthy and fast, said national team manager Thorir Hergeirsson at the press conference before the game against Hungary.

On Tuesday, Hergeirsson stated that the plan was for Kristiansen to return before the semi-finals, but that it was not certain that Tomac would come out directly again.

Kristiansen was out for a period earlier this year due to coronary heart disease. It has affected the form. When asked about his physical condition prior to the European Championship sprint, he replied:

– I think I still have to work to get more power and endurance so I plan to work hard with the progression beyond the semi-finals and hopefully finals.

The winner of Friday’s Scandinavian semi-final will face France or Croatia in Sunday’s European Championship final in Herning.
