Kristiansand Zoo – I had to kill a cheetah

Male cheetah Kito, who lives in Kristiansand Animal Park, underwent surgery in September for a complicated bone fracture, which affected his knee joint.

Several subsequent operations failed to get the knee to function normally again, so the cheetah was killed on Friday last week, the zoo says in a news release.

How the breach occurred is still unknown.

Fædrelandsvennen was the first to mention the case.

In 2016, Kito became the father of the first cheetahs born on Norwegian soil, when female cheetah Kimani gave birth to a litter of five cubs. Four of them survived.
