– I realized that they were starting to prepare for a real party when I left at 20.30. Only a quarter of an hour later there were wild conditions.
Here’s what Morten Finstad, chairman of the board of the Avenyen trade association in Kristiansand, says after the parking lot outside the shopping park turned into a strip of local theft Thursday night.
Fædrelandsvennen was the first to mention the case.
– Drivers skidded in the ring and hung out of the windows. It took off completely, Finstad tells Dagbladet.
He believes the meeting did not appear to be spontaneous or accidental.
– Several of them also brought extra tire sets. It was simply a deliberate act, he claims.
Alert review
Finstad isn’t just concerned about the thief’s driving pattern. Friday morning characterizes the parking lot as a pigsty.
– They left a lot of garbage. Today we have filled four full shopping carts, and that is before the sweeper has been here. The asphalt also looks absolutely horrible.
He considers that there is damage in the parking lot for tens of thousands of crowns, and now he warns that he will inform some of those who participated in the event.
– I have the registration number on several of the cars and surveillance video of several of the incidents, so you can expect a review during Easter. At the same time, I would also like to congratulate the police for the assistance we receive from them, if this could not have reached unprecedented levels.
– Probably 200 cars
Finstad also notes that he perceived that the incident in the parking lot violated infection control regulations.
– Regarding the coronavirus, it is not good at all. There were probably 200 cars here at one time, and when more than 30 people gather in a group, it is impossible to adhere to the guidelines that apply.
In accordance with local corona guidelines, all events must be postponed. The regulations state that only 50 people are allowed in an outdoor event and a maximum of 20 if the event is private.
Traffic chaos closed Vikafjellet
Agder police confirmed late Thursday that they were forced to drive several cars from the scene.
– I have not received comments on the exact number, but it is between 100 and 200 cars, it is about to be dissolved, operations manager Miriam Stausland told Dagbladet at 10 pm.
More places
Kristiansand wasn’t the only place car enthusiasts had made the trip on Maundy Thursday.
At Bø in Telemark, local thieves had urged that no visitors come to town, but there were still some who made the trip. Despite the accumulations, the mayor of Midt-Telemark, Siri Blichfeldt Dyrland (Sp), remains satisfied.
– I am very impressed with how the local thieves and the police had cooperated beforehand. “I think the warnings they came with made many stay home,” he tells Dagbladet.
She says that she herself was not in the center, but that the impression is good.
From what I have seen in the media, it did not seem so incredible how many people had made the trip. I was afraid it would get worse, says the mayor.
Fun night
The chief of duties in the southeastern police district, Tor Einar Bakken, said Thursday night that they chose to send the youths home when several youths began gathering outside the cars, where they were parked and parked.
– It is not good in terms of an infection perspective, and the additional ordered challenges that we will experience from experience, if we let it go without taking any action, he said.
On Friday morning, Operations Manager Arild Alfheim in the Southeastern Police District can say it has been a relatively quiet night, despite Thursday night meetings.
– Meetings in Bø and elsewhere quieted down during the afternoon and evening, Alfheim tells Dagbladet.
