On Saturday, it was clear that the remaining four companions would be crowned in the orange beret, thus becoming full members of “Kompani Lauritzen”.
Before then, however, two participants had to leave the Setnesmoen camp, and all six participants had to go through a survival test.
Everyone was tasked with coping alone in the woods. Everyone handles this with varying degrees of success, some more satisfied with the state of affairs than others.
Outfitted with raw herring and a full military coat, they spend the night, but it’s the trip the next day that makes six men turn four.
Undone
Shortly after the march, Siri Kristiansen (41) decides that she will no longer be there.
“It was difficult to motivate yourself for something you don’t want to do, when the gain is something else you don’t want to do,” he explains to Dagbladet.
The radio profile was in no way tempted by the final mission: parachuting. Heights with which he has no problems, however, he is afraid of air. He still doubts if it was correct to withdraw from the program.
– I think it was sour. I think he deserved to be in the final and some of that looked incredibly fun. I regret not being able to complete the task. I would rather have smoked in a fog fight, I think it was a bit of an unworthy way to get home, when you’ve given so much in the rest of the show, she says.
Back problems
A short time later, another of the complementary powers also withdrew. Marie Beeder, 32, has trouble carrying the heavy 40-kilo bag and must throw in the towel.
– I have struggled with my back for a long time and noticed during the recording that it was getting worse and worse. We were visited by a physical therapist inside the barracks and I tried to do exercises, but unfortunately it did not improve, he explains to Dagbladet.
– Everything happened very quickly, so I didn’t have much time to reflect. You must remember that it comes from a night out without food and with very little sleep. The reaction really came the day after I was at the hotel, I was thinking a lot about whether I could continue, but at the same time I’m so happy with everything I’ve been through, so I choose to focus on that, he continues.
The remaining four participants choose to continue, and therefore there will be no knockout competition. The finalists are clear: Mars Bratberg (30), Henrik Thodesen (39), Lise Karlsnes (40) and Øyvind «Vinni» Sauvik (44).
The four have to fight for victory next Saturday, on a parachute mission.
Sick throughout the recording
Despite the fact that both Kristiansen and Beeder find it difficult not to enter in the last week, both have good memories of the participation. Both express a sense of team and dominance.
– The obstacle course during the recruitment period is perhaps my best memory. When I got to the finish line, I was very high. It was one of the first tasks we got where we thought it wasn’t possible, but then it did. It was a lot of fun, “says Kristiansen.
– I am indescribably grateful for the experience and for all the nice people I have met, says Beeder.
However, she admits that it was good to return to everyday life.
– The worst was never knowing what was going to happen. After several weeks of uncertainty, it was good to be able to once again decide on her own life, she says.
Although Kristiansen made a strong figure during the recording, however, the shape was not at the top. She reveals that they suspected she had pneumonia during her stay.
– I had a high fever and I hardly voted lately. I don’t know if it was pneumonia, but it was a bad cold anyway. I think I took pain relievers and nasal sprays from the third day, she says.
