– For me it has been a blessing to be able to relax in a good way, but in the last few days it has started to fade.

That’s what Asbjørn “Kokkejævel” Sandøy says.

Along with his heavily pregnant girlfriend Christine Pedersen, he has been locked in the Hammerfest hospital room since Wednesday of last week.

Now they have been allowed to leave the hospital and have checked into hotels.

– We will still be in Hammerfest, but we can move freely. A person who is pregnant in the last week does not benefit from being in bed 24 hours a day, says the best blogger.

On Monday night there are a total of 19 contagious at Hammerfest. Among those infected there are 13 hospital employees and four patients.

Without fear of infection

On Wednesday night of last week, the couple was sent to the hospital as the delivery was underway.

After being locked in a small room for almost a week, Sandøy and his girlfriend are looking forward to a change of environment.

– Today I noticed that we both began to feel irritation because the situation is not clear. There is a lot of tension in the body, he says.

Although the couple have been in the midst of seriousness waiting for labor to begin, they have felt safe.

– Absolutely everyone has used a mask. At least I have felt that everyone has done everything possible to prevent infection.

Sandøy tells NRK that neither he nor his girlfriend are afraid that they will carry an infection from the hospital.

– Firstly, the infection has not been in the room and, secondly, we have been isolated in our little room. I’m not afraid of anything infecting us, he says.

Emphasize that both of you will stay away from other people.

– There is no doubt that Hammerfest Township is not the place to be right now if you are afraid of the crown, he says.

Sandøy has received confirmation from the hospital that she will be allowed to return to the hospital as soon as the labor begins.

– We have received guarantees that as long as we comply with the strict restrictions, I will also be allowed to enter again.

I’m still not in control

Among those infected there are 13 hospital employees and four patients. Furthermore, at least 89 employees have been quarantined.

A total of 158 people have been quarantined in Hammerfest Township.

Currently, the hospital only admits patients who need immediate help. Therefore, patients are transferred to other Finnmark hospitals and clinics.

Finnmark Hospital Managing Director Siri Tau Ursin says they are not yet in control of the situation.

– Before we can say that we have control over this, we must have a period without any case of infection, says Ursin.

It also says that the hospital receives assistance from the Norwegian Institute of Public Health.

Massive employee testing is also carried out, regardless of where they work and what role they have.

– Now there is a national charity to help with what we need from staff, says Ursin.

Transferred to other clinics

Health personnel from across the county participate in the Hammerfest Relief Benefit.

At Kirkenes hospital, among other things, they canceled planned admissions to the medical ward this week.

The head of the Kirkenes Hospital clinic, Rita Jørgensen, says they are closely monitoring the situation.

– We conduct ongoing evaluations and follow the status at Hammerfest. We still don’t know if we will cancel more.

Daily operation is normal, except for patients whose schedule has been canceled. Jørgensen states that the managers of the Finnmark Hospital clinics have a daily dialogue about how many patients will be transferred from Hammerfest to the clinics in Alta and Karasjok.
