It was the King’s Bournemouth club who reported the positive result via Twitter Friday afternoon.
The national team forward tells Dagbladet that he traveled to England on Sunday and had symptoms of covid-19 on Tuesday night.
– It was tight in the chest. When I woke up on Wednesday, I was also sick. I contacted the doctor. They asked me to come even though I was not feeling well. They sent me home without having been in contact with colleagues. They put me to the test Thursday morning, King says.
Five infected
Earlier Friday, the Norwegian Football Association announced that national players Patrick Berg, Markus Henriksen and Marius Lode, who have been quarantined at the players’ hotel in Oslo, are infected.
All the players of the Norwegian team were quarantined last Friday because Omar Elabdellaoui tested positive for the virus. He and King often hang out at national team meetings.
– Omar and I are together at the meeting of the national team. We play table tennis and FIFA together, says King.
Lost sense of taste and smell
King must be isolated at home for ten days from the first day of symptoms. At the same time, his club has begun mapping the 28-year-old’s close contacts.
The Bournemouth forward says he is not well, but better on Friday than Thursday.
– Yesterday was pretty bad. I felt weak, I had pain all over my body, I had no appetite, I had no taste and I had no smell. Today I feel better.
