– Kicked for doing his job

President Donald Trump just fired Chris Krebs, the director of the US cybersecurity agency, apparently only to disagree with him on security surrounding this year’s presidential election.

Krebs headed the Infrastructure and Cybersecurity Security Agency (CIAS), which was responsible for data security in elections. On Thursday, CIAS said there was no evidence that the electoral system had erased or lost ballots, or been affected in any way.

On Thursday, CIAS declared the election the safest in US history. It cost Krebs his job.

Major Democrats condemn the president’s decision.

– pathetic

– Rule number one when working for Donald Trump: you can’t tell the truth. But it doesn’t matter who he kicks: Donald Trump lost. Joe Biden and Kamala Harris will be the next president and vice president, writes the Democratic Senate leader, Chuck Schumer.

“Chris Krebs’ federal service is just the latest casualty in President Trump’s four-year war on the truth,” Delaware Sen. Chris Coons told CNN’s live broadcast, quoted by The Guardian.

Adam Schiff, who chairs the House intelligence committee, praises Krebs.

– Principal Krebs worked diligently to protect our options from interference and misinformation. He protected our democracy. And he told the authorities the truth. That’s why Trump attacked him and fired him. It is pathetic and predictable of a president who sees the truth as his enemy, he writes Schiff On twitter.

– Punished for doing his job

The independent senator King angus describes Krebs as a dedicated public servant who “has helped build new cyber functions in the face of rapidly evolving dangers.”

– By firing him to do his job, President Trump is hurting all Americans who depend on CISA’s advocacy, even if they don’t know it.

In addition, King writes in the statement that this year’s “strong” election security and awareness campaigns have exceeded his expectations.

Equally important is the less talked about work CISA has done to protect our nation’s other critical infrastructure resources. We must empower Chris and his team so they can do more, not punish them for doing their jobs.

Oregon Senator Ron Wyden writes that Krebs did not deserve to be fired.

– Trump fired a government employee to tell the truth, so he can accelerate his lies about the election, he writes. Wyden.

California state government Democrat Alex Padilla describes the firing as a disturbing sign, according to the AP news agency.

“Krebs has been an approachable and trusted partner to election officials across the country and in all parties,” Padilla said.

Furthermore, he gives “leaders like Chris Kreps” much of the credit for the fact that the country’s infrastructure during the elections has been strengthened, despite “actions and lies that come from the White House.”

There have been previous reports that Krebs feared he would be fired. Then Bennie Thompson, who heads the Household Security Committee, said he was concerned, writes AP.

“It’s a shame that someone with his talents suddenly gets a bite,” said Thompson, who described Krebs as politically independent and completely professional.

The statement that got him fired

Krebs’ firing appeared in a Twitter message from the president Wednesday night.

– Chris Krebs’ recent statement on security around the 2020 elections was very inaccurate, the president began, who further referred to what he believes was massive fraud and irregularities during the elections.

Unexpected return after 28 years

Since Democrat Joe Biden was declared the winner of the election, Trump has maintained that there has been widespread electoral fraud and that he is the rightful winner. No evidence has been presented in this regard.

Now Krebs tells NBC News that he is proud of the work he did at CIAS.

– I’m proud of the team I had. We did the right thing, he says.
